ECA Club

Envisioned with developing a hub for technical excellence particularly in the field of computer science and promoting competitive programming and coding as a culture in SNIST, Emerging Computers’ Arena (ECA) club was founded on 21st January 2011 by few students. Our club embraces the motto, "Empowering talents with knowledge", and provides a platform for the students of SNIST to garner expertise on various advancements in computational technology. We have conducted several events like workshops, coding contests, quizzes, and many more to enhance the thought that "Coding is the DNA of the Digital World". We have also organized guest-lectures to give the students an opportunity to interact with Industry professionals and obtain career guidance.

Our Goals and Actions:

  1. ECA strives to inculcate coding culture into students of SNIST. Every week, the ECA club conducts a coding contest to make sure consistent coding practice for students.

  2. ECA also intends to introduce new and emerging technologies in various domains to the students of SNIST. ECA club introduces popular technological domains like Web Development, Competitive Coding, Data Science, and Machine Learning to its members.

  3. ECA club organizes technical events like interactive talks with industry experts, jobholders, and SNIST alumni, workshops, etc.

  4. ECA conducts technical events and games during our college fests like SreeVision and RoboVeda. Events Conducted in Collaboration with RoboVeda:
  1. Blind Coding: Ever thought of writing code with the monitor off? Sound challenging?

  2. Codeathon: Codeathon is an annual coding event

  3. Code Hunt: Code Hunt is an integration of treasure hunt and coding

  4. Quiz Me: Quiz me is a game wherein teams attempt to answer the questions posed to them correctly.

  5. ECA club provides a platform and an environment for every student to learn from their seniors and their fellow students, and make valuable learning experiences.

Achievements:

  1. The entire board of ECA of 2019-20 has cleared the prestigious TCSCodevita season 9 and bagged the opportunity for direct interviews with prestigious TCS due to our stellar performance. We are proud to state the no board in SNIST had done this before.
  2. Sachin Goud (External affairs 2019-20) has won the CSE department Hackathon conducted during February 2020.
  3. Varun and Avinash (Ex-Technical team of ECA) have cleared the prestigious HackwithInfy2020 conducted by Infosys and bagged a preplacement opportunity with Infosys. (The only students from SNIST to do this in the year 2020).

Events we conducted in academic year 2019-2020:

  1. GOOGLE HASH CODE 2020: Hash code is a coding event conducted by Google every year all over the world and Google allows colleges to set up hubs during the event to bring all the coders under one roof and make coding much more competitive and fun. SNIST-ECA has been selected as a hub for the year 2020 and we are proud to say that the event has seen a massive turnover from students not only from SNIST but other colleges as well.

  2. Cross Platform Application Development using Flutter (19/8/19 – 23/8/19): The Flutter session saw a huge turnout of students even all three sessions, approximately adding up to a count of 80 students. We taught the introduction about IDE and guided them in installing Flutter, JDK, various tools associated this IDE. We taught the installed tools usage and the importance played by each tool. We taught them to create the UI of a basic ticket booking app which involves buttons, images, progress dialog, text view, etc. The task given was to form into teams of 4 members and decide on building a project on their own idea.

  3. Open Session: We conducted our open session in the Bio-Tech block seminar hall, explained everything about our events, sessions, awareness about trending technologies, and made the registrations available for the first and second years.

  4. Roadmap To Competitive Programming: We taught the attendees the importance of competitive coding, provided guidance on how to proceed in it. We gave them sources to start practicing and taught a few important algorithms.

  5. FULL STACK WEB DEVELOPMENT (INDUCTION PROGRAM): We taught how to design responsive webpages using HTML and CSS. We taught them about Bootstrap and JavaScript to build a webpage with good styling.
